Acer Nitro XV273X – Image Quality
The Acer Nitro XV273X is a 27-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Gaming Monitor. It is based on the IPS panel made by AU Optronics. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and supports true 9-bit color depth.
The image quality of this monitor is excellent. The colors are vibrant and the images have a great amount of detail in them. This is not surprising as IPS panels are popular for their better color accuracy and wide viewing angles.
Usually, most gaming monitors in the market use TN panels as they support high refresh rates, 1ms response times, and low input lag. Players have to compromise on the image quality for a better performance as TN panels have the worst color accuracy out of all panels.
The Acer Nitro XV273X offers users the same performance as the TN panel monitors but with better color accuracy. This way you can enjoy fast-paced gaming without compromising on the image quality. You get both stunning visuals and a super-fast performance in games.
It has a brightness level of 350-nits. This monitor is fairly bright and I suggest you tone down the brightness a bit to avoid eye strain. It has a contrast level of 1000:1. It is decent enough to make colors pop out and make them stand apart from each other.
The overall panel uniformity is decent. The colors are consistent throughout the panel without any major hiccups.
The IPS panels also have wide and relaxed viewing angles. You get 178-degree wide and comfortable viewing angles with this monitor. There won’t be any shift in colors, brightness, and contrast levels even when you view this monitor from skewed angles.
The Acer Nitro XV273X supports HDR. It is DisplayHDR 400 certified. It is fair enough for HDR gaming. It could have been much better if the monitor had better contrast, higher brightness, and wider color gamut support.
It has a pixel density of 89PPI. It is decent for watching movies and playing games. There won’t be any issues with blurry text and pixelated images in games.
The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There was a slight IPS glow present towards its edges. It is tolerable and is only visible when you’re in the dark areas of a game.
It has a matte anti-glare coating present on it that handles reflections very well. You will have no problems even if the monitor is operated in a fairly bright room.
The overall color quality of the Acer Nitro XV273X is first class. Its out of box color accuracy is very good and most users won’t have to calibrate the monitor. The colors are true to life and the images look fantastic.
Acer Nitro XV273X – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity
The Acer Nitro XV273X has a simple design. Its bezels are ultra-thin and pose no distractions when you use it for a multi-monitor setup.
Despite being one of the powerful gaming monitors, it doesn’t have those gaming-centric aesthetic enhancements like RGB lights, LED strips, etc. You will like this monitor if you prefer a minimalistic design.
There is a joystick and four buttons present on the backside of the monitor. The joystick helps you navigate the OSD menu and the buttons are used to assign image presets. One button is used to turn on / off the monitor.
The build quality of this monitor is decent. The backside of the monitor has a matte finish on it. The plastic used is of good quality and durable. The stand has a tripod design and stands sturdy with minimal wobble. It also has a hollow for cable management.
The stand is fully ergonomic. It has all the features like height adjustment, swivel, pivot, and tilt. You can also rotate the monitor. There is also a 100x100mm VESA pattern that helps you wall mount it or connect to a third-party stand.
The connectivity options include: DisplayPort 1.2 x 1, HDMI 2.0 x 2. There are also four USB 3.0 ports present for increased connectivity and a 3.5mm Headphone Jack to connect headphones.
The Acer Nitro XV273X has 2x2W built-in speakers. They are not too loud and I suggest external speakers for a better audio experience.
Acer Nitro XV273X – Gaming Performance
The Acer Nitro XV273X is a truly impressive gaming monitor and is an excellent choice for competitive gaming.
It has a massive refresh rate of 240Hz. You will notice day and night difference in smoothness if you switch over from a 60Hz monitor. There will also be a noticeable difference from a 144Hz monitor.
The 1080p resolution is the sweet spot for competitive games. With a fairly decent graphics card, you can reach 200+ FPS in most eSports games.
It has a 1ms ultra-low response time. Its input lag is around 3ms which is impressive. There won’t be any noticeable motion blur or ghosting during gaming.
The Acer Nitro XV273X also supports both FreeSync and G-Sync variable refresh rate technologies. You will have no issues with stuttering, screen tearing, and lagging during gameplay.
Acer Nitro XV273X – Features
The Acer Nitro XV273X has a blue light filter. You can enjoy gaming on it for long hours without worrying about eye strain. It is also flicker-free. You won’t get any headaches even after prolonged usage.
Other gaming-centric features include custom crosshairs and FPS counters. The Black Boost technology will increase enemy visibility in dark areas of the game without overexposing the other parts.
The Overdrive option helps you control the response time. I suggest you use it in Normal. Other options tend to introduce ghosting in games.
The OSD menu lets you adjust various color settings like brightness, contrast, color temperature, etc. It is user friendly and straight forward.
