What is the Asus VP28UQG?
Asus VP28UQG – Image Quality
The is a 28-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) Monitor. It is based on a TN panel. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 10-bit color depth (8-bit + FRC) via dithering.
The 4K resolution makes images and text look more detailed. You will also have more screen real-estate than a 1080p monitor.
Though TN panels have the worst color accuracy out of all panels, the does have a decent image quality. It is not on par with the IPS panels but still, it is better than most of the other TN panel monitors.
The colors are decent across the monitor and the images look vibrant. It will be more than enough for gaming and watching movies.
You can also try tweaking the color settings if you want to further improve the image quality.
Here are my best color settings for the . Using them made console gaming on PS4 Pro and Xbox One much better.
- Picture Mode = Standard
- Brightness = 50
- Contrast = 70-75
- Vivid Pixel = 50
- Trace Free = 60
- Color temperature = Normal
- Smart View = Off
Do keep in mind that all monitors are different and these settings worked well for me. If you’re able to achieve even better image quality using different settings, go with them. For most people, these settings should be more than enough to make gaming enjoyable.
The combination of 28-inch screen size and 4K resolution results in a massive pixel density of 157PPI. The images are full of detail and the text appears sharp. It is also easy on the eyes as there won’t be any pixelated images and blurry text.
The viewing angles of this monitor are narrow. You get 170°(H) / 160°(V) viewing angles. There won’t be any change in color, brightness, and contrast levels as long as you view the monitor directly without any skewed angles.
The has a brightness level of 300-nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. They are decent enough for most well-lit spaces though it would have been better to have more brightness on this monitor.
The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There was also no backlight bleeding on it.
It has a matte anti-glare coating that will help prevent any reflections that form on it.

Asus VP28UQG – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity
Thecomes in a simple design. It doesn’t have too many aesthetic features like RGB lighting etc. that we see in most gaming monitors today. I also like its minimalistic design which doesn’t make it stand out too much from most regular monitors.
It has fairly thin bezels that give it a sharp look. The black-colored cabinet has a matte finish. The overall build quality is decent. The plastic used is durable and doesn’t feel like a low-grade material.
There are no OSD buttons on this monitor but a five-way joystick to navigate the OSD menu. The joystick is much better and more user-friendly than buttons. Once you get used to it, using the OSD becomes much easier.
The stand used has a circular base. It is sturdy and keeps the monitor stable without any wobble.
The ergonomic capabilities of the stand are only limited to -5°/+20° tilt functionality. You cannot use it to adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it, or rotate it. Thankfully, there is a 100x100mm VESA pattern you can use to wall mount the monitor or connect it to a third-party stand.
The connectivity options of theinclude HDMI 2.0 x2, DisplayPort 1.2 x1. You also get a 3.5mm headphone jack with it. It doesn’t have any inbuilt speakers.
