The Dell D2719HGF is a 27-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Monitor. It is based on a TN panel. It covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and covers 8-bit color depth via dithering (6-bit + FRC).
The out-of-box color accuracy of this monitor is bad. The images look washed out. This is common for most TN panels. They offer better response times but have bad color accuracy and viewing angles. This is a sacrifice most gamers make to have a better performance in games.
You don’t have to live with such color accuracy as there is an easy fix for this. With some color tweaking, you’ll have much better colors. Here are the steps you should follow:
- First, go to the Nvidia Control panel and change the refresh rate to 144Hz if you’re using a DisplayPort or 120Hz if you’re using an HDMI cable.
- Now change the Brightness to +45, Contrast to +50, and Digital Vibrance to +55
- Also, try reducing the gamma to a level where you feel satisfied with colors.
If you follow these simple steps, you will have a much better color accuracy. The colors of the monitor will pop out and the images will appear much vibrant without looking washed out. Gaming will be much better both in terms of image quality and performance.
Do keep in mind that these settings worked best for me. They are not a standard and you can always tweak them if you want to. For most people, the above-mentioned settings should be more than enough.
The Dell D2719HGF is brighter than most monitors in its price range. It has a brightness level of 400-nits. I suggest you tone it down to avoid any eye strain. It has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 which should be decent enough for colors to stand out.
It has narrow viewing angles. You get 170° Horizontal and 160° Vertical viewing angles. You will not have any washed-out images due to the change in colors as long as you face the monitor directly.
The combination of a 27-inch screen and 1080p resolution results in a pixel density of 81PPI. It is decent enough for gaming. You won’t have any pixelated images and blurry text as long as there is an arm-length distance between you and the monitor.
There were no dead pixels on the monitor we reviewed. It did have a little bleeding towards its edges. It is definitely tolerable and is most visible only in dark areas of the video game.
The Dell D2719HGF has a matte anti-glare coating that will help diffuse any reflection that for on it.
