What is Sceptre E205W-1600
The Sceptre E205W-1600 is the most affordable monitor in the market. You can own one for just around $80. Are you simply throwing away those $80? Or do you actually get your money’s worth? Read this review to learn more about it.
Sceptre E205W-1600 - Image Quality
The Sceptre E205W-1600 is a 19.5-inch 1600×900 monitor. It is based on a TN panel. It covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut (i.e. 72% NTSC). It supports 8-bit color depth via dithering.
Though the color accuracy looks good on paper, don’t expect it to be true in real-world conditions. This is because of the TN panel. The TN panels have the worst color accuracy out of all the panels.
This is not bad as it sounds and it also depends on what you use this monitor for. If you’re using it for browsing the web, watching movies, working on MS office, and casual gaming, it will be fine. Just don’t expect its colors to blow your mind.
The TN panels also have narrow viewing angles. You get 160-degree vertical and 170-degree horizontal viewing angles. You won’t have any shift in colors, brightness, and contrast levels as long as you look at the monitor directly.
The 1600×900 (900p) resolution is in between the 720p and the 1080p. Though 1080p would have been nice, the 900p resolution in a 19.5-inch screen results in a pretty decent pixel density. The images are crisp looking and the text is sharp without any pixelation.
It has a brightness level of 180-nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. They should be enough provided you work on this monitor in a well-lit environment.
There were no dead pixels in the monitor we tested. It also did not have any issues with backlight bleeding. The monitor has an anti-glare coating that will diffuse any reflections that form on it and will help remove any distractions.

Sceptre E205W-1600 - Gaming Performance
The 900p resolution taxes your graphics card less than the 1080p resolution. This will allow you to achieve more FPS during gameplay. In a few old games, you can easily reach 75FPS even using a budget graphics card. This will allow you to enjoy gaming at 75Hz.
This monitor has a response time of 5ms. Its input lag is around 12ms and is imperceptible. For casual gaming, they will be more than enough. You will have no issues of ghosting or trailing.
This monitor doesn’t support FreeSync and G-Sync technologies. At its price, this is expected.
Overall, you can use it for casual gaming without any problems. Don’t expect it to do more than that.

The ergonomic capabilities of the stand are only limited to 15° backward and 5° forward tilt. Height adjustment, monitor rotation, and swivel options are absent. This monitor has a 100x100mm VESA mount you can use to either wall mount it or connect to a third-party stand.
