Sceptre E248W-19203R - Image Quality

The SCEPTRE E248W-19203R is a 23.8-inch Full HD (1920×1080) Monitor. It is based on a VA Panel. The VA Panels are known for their high contrast and brightness levels.  It covers 95% of the sRGB Color Gamut.

It has a brightness level of 250-nits and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. It supports 8-bit color via dithering (6-bit + 2-bit FRC) and can display 16.7 million colors across the monitor. It has a pixel density of 92 PPI.

The image quality of this monitor is decent. You don’t get washed-out images like those you see in TN panels. The high contrast levels make images look vibrant and the text looks sharp.

Images have a certain depth in them and will make watching movies and playing games more immersive.

It has wide 178-degree viewing angles. The colors of this monitor are uniform from almost all angles except the extreme ones. When viewed from extreme angles expect a negligible color shift.

This monitor has issues of minor backlight bleeding at its corners. This is only visible during a dark cutscene being played during a game or a movie. Most of the regular users won’t have any issues with it. You can adjust the brightness and contrast setting to minimize it. The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels.

The SCEPTRE E248W-19203R has an anti-glare coating on it. There will be no distracting reflections forming on the screen even when you use it in bright environments.

Sceptre E248W-19203R - Design, Ergonomic and Connectivity

The SCEPTRE E248W-19203R comes in a simple design and sports a silver chassis. Its bezels are thin and make this monitor a fine option for multi-monitor setups. They also maximize the viewing area of the monitor.

The overall build quality is fair. The plastic used is durable. The OSD buttons are placed on the backside of the monitor. They are not labeled. You will definitely find it difficult to operate it the first couple of times. It is difficult to operate them when they are wall-mounted.

The stand has a round base and is sturdy. It doesn’t wobble. It only has -5/+15 tilt functionality. You cannot adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it, or rotate it to portrait mode.

This monitor can be wall-mounted or connected to a third-party stand using a (100 x 100) VESA mount.

The SCEPTRE E248W-19203R has generous connectivity options. They include 2x HDMI, 1x VGA. You can easily connect it to a gaming console and a CPU simultaneously. It also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

This monitor also comes with 2 x 2W built-in speakers. They are not the loudest but should be enough if for watching YouTube videos and movies in small spaces. I suggest getting external speakers for the best experience possible.

Sceptre E248W-19203R - Gaming Performance

The SCEPTRE E248W-19203R has a refresh rate of 75Hz. People switching over from a 60Hz monitor will definitely notice the smoothness in video games.

The VA panels do not have the best response times. This monitor has a response time of 8ms. There won’t be any ghosting and motion blur during gaming. Its input lag is imperceptible. Unless you are a competitive gamer, you won’t have any issues with its response time.

It doesn’t support variable refresh rate technologies like AMD’s FreeSync and Nvidia’s G-Sync. Considering the price of this monitor, this is expected. Still, you can enjoy casual gaming without any issues.

This monitor is not meant for competitive gaming. It is meant for office usage, mixed usage, and multimedia consumption. This monitor will also suit you if you’re a casual gamer or a console gamer. Its visuals are great when you use it for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox. Just don’t expect too much from it.

All these features can be accessed using the OSD buttons placed on the backside of the monitor.
