What is ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD?

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is a 4K monitor that comes with impressive specs. It comes at an affordable price when compared with other monitors having the same specs. It is definitely worth its price tag. Read this review of the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD to know more about it.

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD – Image Quality

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is a 27-inch 4K (QHD 3840 x 2160) Monitor. It is based on IPS panel. It covers 110% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 10-bit color depth via dithering (6-bit + FRC).

The 4K resolution makes images look much more detailed than they are in 1080p resolution. You will have a better image quality than lower resolution monitors. It also offers you more screen real estate to work with different applications without having to always switch between tabs. You can multitask effectively.

The color accuracy of this monitor is excellent. The IPS panels are popular for their superior color accuracy. You will have stunning visuals with vibrant looking images and rich colors that pop out. Watching movies or playing games on it will be a visual feast. You can also use it for entry-level graphics design.

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a brightness level of 350-nits and a contrast ratio of 1300:1. It is really bright and you will not have any issues even in bright environments. I would suggest you tone it down a little to avoid eye strain. It also has higher contrast than most IPS monitors in its price range. You will have detailed images and sharp looking text.

The overall uniformity of the panel is decent. The colors were consistent throughout it without any issues of ups and downs.

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD supports HDR 10 which is an entry-level HDR. Its HDR performance is fair. It is not completely perfect but is much better than other budget HDR 10 monitors in its price range. You may need to do some color tweaking here and there but overall it is satisfactory.

Most other HDR 10 monitors either have lower brightness, insufficient contrast ratio, or lower coverage of color gamut. Due to which images appear overexposed and washed out.

In general, if the Pixel density of a monitor is between 90 and 100PPI, it is considered optimal. The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a massive pixel density of 163PPI. The images on this monitor will have better detail and the text will be much sharp. This is also easy on the eyes as there won’t be any pixelated images or blurry text that where you have to squint your eyes.

IPS panel monitors are also known for their wide viewing angles. You get 178-degree wide and comfortable viewing angles with this monitor. There won’t be any washed-out images like TN panel monitors when you view the monitor from different angles due to change in color, contrast, and brightness levels.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There was an IPS glow present on the edges. It is tolerable and is mostly visible only in dark parts of a movie or a game. IPS glow is present in all IPS monitors. You can try reducing the brightness to minimize it.

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD has a matte anti-glare coating on it that will handle the reflections that form on it effectively.

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD comes in an elegant design. It has a thin profile and its bezels are ultra-thin. They maximize the viewing area and minimize distractions when you use it for a multi-monitor setup. If you prefer the minimalistic design, you will like this monitor.

There are five OSD buttons present on the right-hand side of the lower bezel. One of them is the power button, another one is a shortcut button to volume and the rest of them help you navigate the OSD menu. They are responsive and easy to reach. A joystick would have been a better option.

The build quality of the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is first class. The plastic used feels premium. It is strong and durable. The backside of the monitor has a matte finish that makes it easy to clean. The stand is made of metal. It occupies less space on the desk and is sturdy without any wobble.

The ergonomics of the stand is limited to -3º / 20º Tilt only. You cannot use it to adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it and rotate it. There is a 100x100mm VESA pattern present using which you can wall-mount the monitor or connect it to a third-party stand.

The connectivity options of the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD are generous. You get: 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.2. There is also a 3.5mm Headphone Jack. This monitor has 2x 2.5W built-in speakers. They are better than nothing but not too loud. For a better audio experience, I would suggest buying external speakers.

ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD – Gaming Performance

The ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is a decent choice for 4K gaming.

Like most 4K monitors in the market, it has a refresh rate of 60Hz. There are very few 4K monitors having a higher refresh rate than 60Hz and they are very expensive.

It has a response time of 4ms which is decent enough for most gamers. Its input lag is around 10ms and is imperceptible. You won’t have any major issues with ghosting and motion blur.

You can also try reducing the response time using the Overdrive option in the OSD menu. Using the “Extreme” setting will lower the response time but will introduce inverse ghosting in games. I suggest you use it at “Normal” for optimal performance in games.

This monitor doesn’t support FreeSync and G-Sync refresh rate technologies.

Do keep in mind that the ViewSonic VX2776-4K-MHD is not a hardcore gaming monitor. It is decent enough for casual gaming. If you prefer better visuals to lower the response time, choose this monitor.

It is also a great choice for 4K gaming on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. You can enjoy stunning visuals in games and a lower response time than most average TVs using this monitor.
