What is Viotek GFV27DAB?

The Viotek GFV27DAB is a budget 1440p 1444Hz gaming monitor. It offers premium specs at an affordable price. Read this review of The Viotek GFV27DAB to know more about it.

Viotek GFV27DAB – Image Quality

The Viotek GFV27DAB is a 27-inch 2560×1440 (WQHD) Gaming monitor. It is based on the VA panel. It covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and supports true 8-bit color depth.

The image quality of this monitor is decent but it could be much better. Viotek did not properly calibrate this monitor. You will need to do a bit of color tweaking initially to improve color accuracy.

Here are my best color settings for the Viotek GFV27DAB

  • Brightness – 55
  • Contrast – 80
  • Black Equalizer – 48
  • Sharpness – 75
  • Ultra Vivid – Off
  • Color Temp : User: R: 50 / G: 45 / B: 43
  • Gamma – 2.2
  • Hue – 50
  • Saturation – 60
  • Low Blue Light – 0

These settings should improve your color accuracy by a huge margin. The colors are vibrant and the images are full of detail. You will definitely see an improvement in the overall visual quality of the monitor.

Do keep in mind that every monitor is different. The above settings are not universal to all the Viotek GFV27DAB monitors. You can tweak them further to match your requirements. For most users, the above settings should be more than enough.

The VA panels are popular for their superior contrast levels. The images will have deeper blacks and brighter whites. The colors look true to life. The real-world contrast ratio of the Viotek GFV27DAB is not on par with other VA panels in its price range but it should be more than enough if you’re switching over from an IPS or a TN panel monitor.

The Viotek GFV27DAB has 178-degree wide and comfortable viewing angles. You won’t have any washed-out colors like in TN panel monitors when you view this monitor from different angles.

It has a brightness level of 400-nits which is higher than most monitors in this price range. You will have no issues using this monitor even in a brightly lit room. I suggest you tone down the brightness to avoid any eye strain.

This monitor has an optimal pixel density of 109PPI. You will have crisp looking pictures with sharp text without any sort of pixelation. It is also easy on the eyes.

The Viotek GFV27DAB also supports HDR. It is not a rated HDR display. Don’t expect too much from this monitor in terms of HDR gaming performance. It is largely underwhelming. The colors look oversaturated. A wider color gamut, higher contrast ratio would have made its performance much better.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. It also had a less burn-in effect than the other VA panels we tested. It is mostly not noticeable.

It has a matte anti-glare coating on it that handles reflections that form on it effectively.

Overall, the image quality of the Viotek GFV27DAB is more than satisfactory. It needed some tweaking initially but after that, it had amazing color quality. You will definitely be satisfied with it and enjoy gaming on it. Its only drawback was its HDR performance. At its price, you shouldn’t expect excellent HDR performance.

Viotek GFV27DAB – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The Viotek GFV27DAB comes in a stylish design.  It has red color accents on its stand and an RGB ring that gives It a gamer’s aesthetic.

It has ultra-thin bezels that offer you minimal distractions when you use it for a multi-monitor setup.

The build quality of this monitor is first class. It is made of good quality and durable plastic. The backside of the monitor has a matte finish. The V-shaped stand is also sturdy and has no wobble. It also has a hollow for effective cable management.

There is an OSD joystick present on the backside of this monitor that helps you navigate the OSD menu. It is a much user-friendly choice than using buttons.

The stand offers you all the ergonomics. You can adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it left and right, tilt it, rotate it, and also pivot it at 90°. Another unique feature of this monitor is that it has both a 75x75mm and 100x100mm VESA pattern present on it. You can use them to wall mount it or connect it to a third-party stand.

The connectivity options of this monitor are: 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0, and 1x DisplayPort 1.2. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack present.

The Viotek GFV27DAB hits he bulls eye in terms of style, build quality, and ergonomics without compromising on either one of them. It deserves a special mention for this. Especially when you consider its price. Most other gaming monitors in its price range have only one or at most two of them.
